African Drumming

Teli Shabu is a professional musician and teaching artist. Born in Liberia, West Africa, Teli grew up in a family performance ensemble where dance, music, and art were a way of life. He has studied percussion and the 21-string Kora with masters in the U.S. and West Africa. Teli has toured with the African American Dance Ensemble and composed musical scores for local theatrical productions. Teli is currently the Musical Director, and lead percussionist of The Magic of African Rhythm. He teaches throughout North Carolina and performs with his touring unit Djembe Fire! He is especially gifted in working with youth. Teli will demonstrate the “magic” of healing through music.
